Artists & Models: STIMULUS, May 1, 2010

Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center presents the 22nd incarnation of Artists & Models: STIMULUS, a rousing evening of art installations, performances and live music at the Rock Harbor Yard, 57 Tonawanda St., Buffalo. This year features the work of Media Study grad students, alumni and faculty including work by 404 Error (Anna Scime, Isaac Johnson, Liz Chow, Josh Parkins, James Boatwright, Scott Ries, Olivier Delrieu-Schulze, John Fink, Brian Clark), Al Larsen, Vincenzo Mistretta and Tammy McGovern, among others.

JORDAN DALTON @ post-moot convocation 2010

MFA candidate Jordan Dalton’s multimedia installation Meat Out of the Eater (in collaboration with the poet Lara Glenum and multimedia artist and theorist Josef Horáček ) is going to be shown at the post_moot convocation of poetry and performance at Miami University of Ohio this weekend (Thursday, April 22, 12:30 p.m. – Sunday April 25, 3:30 p.m).

Fluxxlab is a design firm founded by architects Jennifer Broutin and Carmen Trudell. Their work is focused on sustainable practice and innovative energy solutions that engage people through architecture. Both Jennifer and Carmen graduated from Columbia University’s Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design program, where they began research and collaboration. Broutin teaches at New York City College of Technology. Trudell teaches at Columbia University and at New York City College of Technology.

PLOT SUMMARY: Kasimir Maya (Steve Fleck) is scouring the land in location of the Box of Sergius. With it he will become the god of this world and use it against all who oppose him. Edward Hyde (Branden Raczkowski) and Charlie Hyde (Matt Fleck) are joining forces to hide the Box and prevent Kasimir from unleashing his evil onto the world. Finch (Justin Tredo) and Vega (Eduardo Gonzalez) team up with Charlie and Edward in the battle for this world’s salvation.

SOUNDZILLA: Class show April 25, 2010

SOUNDZILLA

Students from the Department of Media Study at the University at Buffalo will be presenting a FREE exhibition of sound art at Soundlab.

The exhibition, entitled SOUNDZILLA, is a collection of final projects by students in Intermediate Sound Art, an undergraduate-level course taught by Jessica Thompson in the Department of Media Study, University at Buffalo. This exhibition is supported by the Department of Media Study and Soundlab.

Many of the projects are interactive. Gallery visitors will be invited to participate in the projects over the course of the evening.
